The This is-series by M. Sasek is iconic. In these books Sasek presents different cities alongside lovely illustrations, the perfect children books for both children and grown-ups. It started with Paris in the 50’s and ended with England in the 70’s. This one from San Francisco was published in 1962, and I picked up a copy from SFMOMA when I was there in june. It’s absolutely wonderful, I fell in love at once.

These books became i big success, and to many people’s joy they started reissuing them about ten years ago. I am planning to pick up many more of them. It’s a great, nostalgic souvenir, and actually quite informative.
